Of all the excitement found at the Eastern Idaho State Fair, the biggest overall attraction has always been the food. Whether baked, grilled or fried, the EISF has a rich tradition of offering the best fair food in the west! And it’s about time that all of this delicious food receive some recognition! That’s why the Eastern Idaho State Fair has begun new fair tradition…The “Fairest of them All” Food Awards.

Watch for 2014 Nominees in August!

Winners will be chosen for the inaugural 2014 Food Awards from two categories: The “Best New Food Creation” and the grand champion “Fairest of them All” award. Both winners will receive a banner to hang in their booth declaring them 2014 champions, and the Grand Champion “Fairest of them All” winner will have the honor of display the traveling “Golden Corndog” trophy for the week. All food concessionaires were asked to submit entries from their menus found at the 2014 fair to the contest. Local media members sorted through the entries to determine which eight foods for each category would make it to the taste-testing ceremony to be held Thursday, August 28, two days before the official Fair kickoff.

All food items will be judged on taste, appearance, and creativity. It is the hope that these annual food awards will provide recognition to the most outstanding and creative fair food found in the intermountain west! Here are the final eight selections in each category from 2013.
