Professional Bull Riding Invitational
Saturday August 30, 2008, Show starts at 7:30PM
Bull riding, which is intentionally climbing on the back of a 2,000-pound bull, emerged from the fearless and possibly fool-hardy nature of the cowboy. The risks are obvious. Serious injury is always a possibility for those fearless enough to sit astride an animal that literally weighs a ton and is usually equipped with dangerous horns. Come enjoy one of the most extreme of all sports.![]()

Horse Pulling
Wednesday September 3, 2008 at 1:00 PM
In the early 1900's when farmers farmed with horses, can't you just visualize a farmer telling his neighbor. "I bet my horse can pull more than yours can". Then to prove it, the neighbor would take him up on that bet and soon there would be some competition between several farmers.![]()
Team Penning, Branding, Sorting
Sunday August 31, 2008 at 8:00 AM
Team penning evolved from the ranch work of separating cattle into pens for branding, doctoring, or transport. Today it is a fast paced and exciting event that gives a team of three riders from 60 to 90 seconds (depending on the class) to separate three same-numbered cattle from a herd of 30.

Indian Relay Racing
Most days at noon
The Native Americans at the Fort Hall Reservation influenced the fair through the one event that has remained from the beginning. The Indian Relay Race was an occasional feature of the fair in the early years, and now Native Americans run the event consistently during the horse races. This event has been popular throughout the history of the fair, but it seemed to burgeon within the last thirty years. In 1964, the new pari-mutuel racing commission and the Fair Board canceled the Indian Relay races. This decision immediately spawned criticism from individuals who called the competition "the most popular part of the racing program." The racing commission fine-tuned its schedule and the Indian Relay race returned in 1965. The danger in this race brings droves of people to the grandstand during the days that the races are held.
